Hello and welcome to Class One’s page! Our class is a mixture of Reception and Year
One. Mrs Brooke-Mawson teaches the Year One children in the mornings and we work
as a whole class in the afternoons.
Our class teacher is called Mrs Wilman. Mrs Norton teaches us on a Thursday afternoon.
Mrs Pickard and Mrs Judson also help us with our learning.
We have PE lessons with a specialist PE coach on a Monday and Friday afternoons and
we must remember to have our PE kits in school for these days.
Our teacher uses the Letters and Sounds and Jolly Phonics schemes to teach us our
phonics work. We also have lots of lovely books from the Collins Big Cat and Oxford
Reading Tree reading schemes to read in school and at home.
We will be sent ‘Help at Home’ activities weekly on a Wednesday. These are designed
to help us with some of the things that we have covered in school that week. We will
also have a reading book sent home every day and we should aim to read at least four
times a week and ask an adult to record this in our Reading Log. We have a reading
chart in our class and the person who has read the most gets a special sticker in
our Well Done Assembly on a Friday!
Year One children need to read as much as possible at home and to practise their
phonics in preparation for the Phonics Check in June 2017.
Look out for our class newsletters which will be sent out each Half Term with details
about our topics and what we will cover in each subject area.
Please feel free to pop in and speak to Mrs Wilman if you have any questions or comments
about Class 1!
